Attending FOSDEM 2025 in Brussels – Focusing on Ada, DNS, and Identity

I’m excited to share that I will be attending FOSDEM 2025 in Brussels on February 1st and 2nd! FOSDEM is always a highlight of the year for open-source enthusiasts, offering a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow developers, attend insightful talks, and dive deep into the latest advancements in free and open-source software.

My Focus Areas: Ada, DNS, and Identity

While FOSDEM covers a vast range of topics, my main areas of interest this year will be:

Ada Devroom

Ada remains one of the most reliable and safety-critical programming languages, and I’m eager to see how the ecosystem has evolved. Whether it’s modern tooling, applications in high-assurance systems, or new developments in SPARK and formal verification, I’m looking forward to catching up with the Ada community and learning about the latest innovations.

DNS Devroom

DNS continues to be a cornerstone of the internet, with ongoing advancements in security, privacy, and resilience. I’m particularly interested in discussions around DNSSEC, DoH (DNS over HTTPS), DoT (DNS over TLS), and new efforts to decentralize DNS infrastructure. With cybersecurity threats and privacy concerns on the rise, staying up to date with DNS developments is more important than ever.

Identity and Authentication

A new focus for me this year is identity management and authentication. With increasing challenges around privacy, decentralized identity (DID), passwordless authentication, and federation standards like OIDC (OpenID Connect) and FIDO2, this is a field that’s rapidly evolving. I’m eager to explore how open-source projects are tackling identity challenges while balancing usability, security, and decentralization.
