Meet Me at Fosdem 2016
Meet Me at FOSDEM 2016 — My First Time!
This year marks my very first trip to FOSDEM, and I’m equal parts excited, curious, and slightly overwhelmed. I’ve heard the legends: packed rooms, hallway conversations that run longer than the talks themselves, and the magical ability of Brussels weather to be cold and wet at the same time. But none of that is stopping me—because 2016 is the year I finally dive in.
DNS: Where My Comfort Zone Lives
One of the big draws for me this year is the DNS devroom. I’ve been a DNS enthusiast for a while now— fascinated by how such a foundational protocol can somehow be both simple, complex and a cash cow. I’m looking forward to hearing what the DNS community is cooking up, especially around security, performance, and the ever-present challenge of keeping the internet’s phonebook running smoothly.
If you catch me wandering the DNS devroom, feel free to say hi. I’ll probably be the one scribbling too many notes about resolvers, new tools, or interesting edge cases.
Ada: My “Wait, Where Has This Been All My Life?” Moment
On the opposite side of my comfort zone is Ada, which until recently was just a name I associated with Lovelace and not an actual programming language I’d ever considered using. FOSDEM is giving me the perfect opportunity to change that.
I’m planning to drop by the Ada devroom to see what the language feels like “in the wild.” Strong typing? Reliability focus? A whole ecosystem I barely know exists? Yes, please. There’s something refreshing about exploring an old language completely new to me—especially one with such a passionate niche community.
Friends I Haven’t Met Yet
But beyond the tech, demos, and overflowing schedules, the real reason I’m excited for my first FOSDEM is the people.
I’ve heard that FOSDEM is one of the friendliest, most spontaneous, most conversation-filled conferences in the open-source world. I’m eager to meet fellow DNS nerds, curious Ada fans, open-source tinkerers, and anyone who just wants to chat about projects, ideas, or good places to eat in Brussels.
If you spot me around campus—probably lost, probably holding a waffle-n-coffee — come say hi. I’m here to learn, share, and hopefully make a few new friends along the way.
Let’s Connect at FOSDEM!
If you’re attending FOSDEM 2016, let’s meet! Drop me a message, wave if you see me, or find me at the DNS or Ada devrooms. Here’s to a weekend full of technology, discovery, and great company.
Looking forward to an inspiring weekend in Brussels—see you at FOSDEM 2016!
